Have We Lost Touch? Let’s Reconnect!
Every year, thousands of life insurance policies go unclaimed in the United States — not because benefits aren’t due, but because insurers simply can’t reach the policyholder or their beneficiaries. These members are often unaware that their contact information is outdated, or that someone in their family may have a policy they’ve forgotten about.
At Catholic Life Insurance, we’re committed to making sure every member stays connected, and every benefit reaches the people it’s meant for. That’s why we’re shining a light on this issue and inviting you to take a few simple steps to stay in the loop.
What Does “Lost Touch” Mean?
We’ve lost touch with a member when:
- We no longer have the current contact information (address, phone, email)
- Mail is returned undelivered
- Beneficiaries are unaware of a policy
- A policyholder passes away, and we can’t locate their loved ones
How to Stay Connected
Here’s how you can help ensure your policy—and any benefits—don’t get lost in the shuffle:
- Update your contact info: Visit www.cliu.com and log in to the Member Portal to confirm your current address, phone number, and email.
- Not registered yet. Create an account to access your information.
- Prefer to speak with someone or notice incorrect information? Call our Membership Service Center at 210-828-9921.
- Check for forgotten policies: If you think you or a loved one may have a policy with us, contact our Member Service Center at 210-828-9921.
- Talk to your family: Make sure your beneficiaries know about your policy and how to contact us if needed, when that time comes.
Looking for a Loved One’s Policy?
If a loved one has passed away and you’re trying to locate all policies they may have had, you can also use the NAIC Life Insurance Policy Locator Tool to search across member companies.
How to Use the Locator:
- Go to naic.org, hover over Consumer, and click Life Insurance Policy Locator under Tools
- Log in and agree to the terms
- Enter your name and address
- Submit a search request using the deceased’s information from the death certificate:
- Social Security number
- Legal first and last name
- Date of birth
- Date of death
- Click Submit
Your request will be stored in a secure, encrypted database. Participating life insurance and annuity companies will review the information and contact you directly if a policy is found and you are the beneficiary. If no policy is found or you’re not the beneficiary, you will not be contacted.
